Lake Bracciano is the third largest lake in central Italy. The most famous thing here is not the scenery but the eels in the lake. Whenever the sun sets and the sky begins to turn from orange to blue, the lake slowly rises, submerging everything except the Collegiate Santa Maria Assunta, which is “the highest point on the cape.” After the lake rises, the eels will slowly swim to the land, enter the houses of the village, and stay in the living room watching TV and eating cinnamon rolls. At night, the eel is the king of this village, and the two have lived in harmony for thousands of years. After years and years, the village is famous for its special cinnamon rolls.
