I am the Monkey King is a fantasy adventure where a group of characters—the naughty little monkey Sun Wukong and his friends Bai Longma (the White Dragon Horse), Zhu Tianpeng (Pigsy), Niu Mowang (the Devil Bull King) and Jin Chanzi (the Golden Cicada) go on adventures while studying at a Taoist magic school.
Sun Wukong uses his magical superpowers, such as the Seventy-Two Transformations, the Invisibility Spell, and the Flying Nimbus to seek answers to some important questions in life.

On Flower Fruit Mountain, the Monkey King is defeated by the Chaos Demon King, forced to seek a master for learning. Deceived by the Empty-Handed Daoist and manipulated by the Nine-Tailed Fox along the way, he finally, after enduring hardships, arrives under the tutelage of the true Patriarch Bodhi.
However, here, he can only start with menial tasks, sweeping, fetching water, meditation...
Seeing other disciples already mastering a skill or two, Sun Wukong is eager. Determined to take a risk, he decides to learn the expedited version of the Seventy-Two Transformations from the White Bone Queen, hoping to take a shortcut, make progress, and succeed.
