In Chinese folklore, there is a kind of forest-dwelling creature called shan xiao. People feared the mythical creatures that allegedly rampaged human villages, kidnapped children and even ate human flesh. They can live among humans without catching anyone’s attention. But, there are tell-tale signs...   Qiu An lived by herself in Frog Village, surrounded by an unbreaking chain of mountains. She could tame mad bulls. She caught more fish than the other villagers. She could even grab chestnuts out of the fire without getting burnt. As she did more and more incredible acts, the villagers begin to suspect her real identity.
