哈佛大學畢業,耶魯法學博士。現任哈佛商學院資深講師、布魯金斯學會(Brookings Institution)資深研究員、美敦力(Medtronic)和尼爾森(Nielsen)獨立董事、聯邦基金(Commonwealth Fund)與哈佛神經探索中心(Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center)董事會成員。
曾任全盛資產管理(MSF Investment Management)董事長、富達投資(Fidelity Investment)副董事長、富達管理研究董事長、華盛頓特區卡普林和德賴斯岱爾(Caplin & Drysdale)律師事務所合夥人;曾任麻州經濟事務局長、美國證券交易委員會副總顧問,並曾參與美國布希總統的強化社會安全委員會。經常在報章期刊發表文章,著有六本專書,包括探討2007年以降金融危機的《大到不能救?》(Too Big to Save?: How to Fix the U.S. Financial System)以及投資人參考指南《基金這一行》(The Fund Industry: How Your Money is Managed)。
